Isaiah 64:1-7
As we begin the Advent season, we reflect on the hope that was experienced by those who anticipated the coming of the Messiah. Jesus fulfilled that hope, as God came to dwell among us in the form of a baby, who eventually gave his life to reconcile us to God. His Spirit, that now dwells with us, empowers us to stand in hope for His coming again, to overcome evil and to set up his Kingdom of peace.

Hebrews 5:11 - 6:12
The author of Hebrews recounts the basics of the faith, such as repentance, forgiveness, fellowship, and the resurrection, but challenges us to grow and mature. There's so much more to the Kingdom Life. If we don't feed on the Truth and the Spirit, we may find ourselves falling away from the faith. There's strength and peace in maturity.

Matthew 24:1-44
We take a break from the Hebrews sermon series, to examine the prophetic words of Jesus on the final days surrounding his second coming. Throughout the centuries, there have been circumstances that caused that generation to believe theirs were the final days. Jesus makes it clear that we won't know the exact timing, but should be aware of the increasing signs. He then encourages us not to be afraid, but to serve him daily, being ready when he comes.

Hebrews 4:14-5:10
"We have a great high priest who has ascended into heaven, Jesus the Son of God, so let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin. Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need."

Hebrews 4:1-13
The author of Hebrews addresses the issue of rest. At Creation, God ended with a day of rest, and he wants us to experience that rest. It's only possible if we live our life with God. Instead of being anxious, we should fellowship with God and trust Him, thus experiencing peace beyond all human understanding.

Hebrews 3:7-19
The author of Hebrews addresses the subject of faith, by recounting the response of the Hebrew generation that experienced deliverance from Egypt. Despite the many miraculous ways that God provided for them, their trust in God kept failing, which resulted in them never reaching the Promised Land. Their faithlessness led them to sin and turn away from God. He has been faithful to us in the past, so we must be sure to trust Him for the future, lest we also slide away and miss the blessings of God.

Hebrews 3:1-6
The Jews recognized Moses as one of their great ancestors, so the author of Hebrews makes it clear that Jesus is even greater than Moses. Moses was a faithful servant, caring for God's people, but Jesus is faithful as a son, overseeing his Father's house, so we should fix our thoughts on Jesus.

Hebrews 2:1-4
As we continue the study of Hebrews, we're cautioned to not drift away from the truth of the Gospel. Jesus presented it, others saw and heard him, and many signs and wonders occurred to prove it. Once we've acknowledged it's truth, we cannot justify allowing ourselves to drift from the Gospel being the center of our lives. Beware of distractions.

Hebrews 1:1-14
We began a new sermon series on the book of Hebrews, which will continue for the next several months. The author begins by making it clear that all of history centers around Jesus. He was there when the Earth began. He came to Earth to live among us and then die for our sins. He overcame death and invites us to be with Him forever.
