At some time, we've all asked "How Long?", where we are seeking God and wondering when we are going to see an end to our struggles. In Psalm 13, we are encouraged in the midst of our questioning, to bring our burdens before a compassionate and faithful God.

As we finish our study of the book of James, we see the power of prayer and praise. We hear testimonies of God revealing Himself in response to them. The Lord can move mightily if we stay focused on Him.

As James begins to close his letter, he speaks of God's Justice. The boasters and the rich oppressors will be judged for their pride and selfish living, while the humble who persevere in trials will experience His compassion and mercy.

God's grace enables us to walk out our faith. That grace

includes generosity. God invites us to participate in His work

by giving our lives and our resources. God meets needs

through His people.

In this passage, James challenges us to choose to avoid the proud ways of the world. If we submit ourselves to God, resist the devil, and humble ourselves before the Lord, He will lift us up.

We look at the characteristics of earthly wisdom and its results, and see how they contrast with the characteristics and results of heavenly wisdom that descends from above. God's wisdom brings peace and righteousness.

As we continue in James, we see that harnessing our tongue is a key to holy living. The tongue has enormous power. Will we allow it to bring grief or life?

James 2:1-8

God makes no distinction between rich or poor, as we are all in need of Christ's redemption. In fact, we are not to count our riches by our bank accounts or material possessions, but consider ourselves rich because of knowing Christ. "For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich." - 2 Corinthians 8:9.

James 1:22-27. 

James challenges Christians to not just hear the Word of God, but do make it active and be Doers of the Word. We are able to do this by looking into the "perfect law" Jesus and keeping our eyes fixed on Him. James gives some practical advice to walk out our faith, such as watching our tongues, serving those around us, and keeping ourselves from being polluted by the world around us.

As we continue the study of the book of James, we see that God is the source of wisdom, and that He is a good giver who wants us to succeed. However, that wisdom is conditional. We must examine our heart, to be sure we're not double-minded.
