As we look at the miracle of the feeding of the five thousand with only 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish, we see Jesus make it clear that he not only meets our physical needs, but he fulfills our spiritual needs. He was not looking for political fame, but humbly revealed that he is the source of abundant life, as well as eternal life.

Once we are united with God through Christ, our life is not our own. Whatever we receive from God is to be passed on to others. His river of life is to flow through us into those we meet. As you receive comfort, compassion and power, allow the Holy Spirit to manifest them through you.

In order for us to interact with God and with people, we must recognize our identity in Christ. When we accept Christ's sacrifice for us, we are adopted into His family, and become heirs to His Kingdom and His Spirit. As we realize our identity in Him, we are able to engage the world, even in these uncertain times.

As we look at the Parable of the Good Samaritan, we see that the man's action went beyond simple compassion. He willingly took on the burdens of someone else. It cost him time and finances, and he was willing to get his hands dirty to care for him. Compassion can also have an emotional toll, but Jesus made it clear that there are eternal rewards.

Are you free of other people's opinion of you, or your opinion of yourself? There's a way of life that allows Jesus and His acceptance and love for us to provide the freedom to no longer live for the opinion of others, but only as faithful servants and stewards of Jesus. As we live with that freedom, we discover the spiritual and life-altering power of the Kingdom of God in our own lives.

We begin looking at the Biblical vision of people being together with God. God created us to fellowship with Him, but desires to see us loving others also. To Jesus, friendship means being willing to lay down our lives for others. That doesn't mean simply accepting their "authentic self", but being willing to minister to their true needs.

Worship is another aspect of our relationship with God. When Jesus meets the woman at the well, we see that nobody who meets Jesus stays the same. We learn that God seeks after us. Our response should be a life of worship, recognizing the Spirit's presence with us.

Our relationship with God involves rest, work, worship and prayer. Work is what we do during the day. We are called to do everything for God in word and deed. God's work in this world needs to be reflected in our work in the world. We should reflect God's goodness, love and grace in all we do. The Gospel provides a purpose for our life.
