As we conclude a miniseries surrounding the resurrection of Jesus, we see Jesus inviting the disciples to eat breakfast with him on shore, after the miraculous catch of fish. Having proved his resurrection, he takes time for final interaction with his disciples. The resurrected Jesus is still in the business of encountering people every day.

After the resurrection of Jesus, the disciples still gathered in a locked room out of fear, until Jesus appeared and showed them his wounds. Thomas was not present then, and also expressed doubt when they told him about it. Jesus appeared again and made a point to address Thomas, showing him as well. Despite our questions and doubts, Jesus will make himself known to us.

Jesus came to give us a glimpse of heaven: love, grace, healing, and so much more. Because of His death and resurrection, it became available to us. The Gospel of Jesus gives us an opportunity to participate in a new story, with a new identity. By dying to our own will, and seeking to follow God's will, we can experience resurrection life.

Ancient and current societies urge people to excel to be the greatest. Jesus turns it around and challenges us to humble ourselves before others, even as He did. There's little satisfaction if we seek to exalt ourselves, but fulfillment comes when we exalt others. Such is the Kingdom of Heaven.

Throughout Scripture we are told to remember: Remember God's faithfulness; Remember those treasured moments. And yet we are also told to allow the Holy Spirit to lead us to new treasured moments and adventures. Allow the blessings of the past to give you an excitement for His work in the future.

When Jesus gives the Parable of the Hidden Treasure and the Parable of the Priceless Pearl, he challenges all of us to consider what is of value and meaning to us. As followers of Jesus, we should be willing to place our primary focus in life on the riches of the Kingdom, the eternal treasures.

In this parable, Jesus addresses a field that is filled with good wheat seed, but becomes infiltrated with "fake wheat". It may look the same, but is damaging to those who partake. It is separated at the harvest time. So also, Satan can bring his evil influence into the Church, but when God harvests, the good wheat ends up in Heaven, while the "fake wheat", in Hell.

As we continue to seek to understand the Kingdom of God, we begin to explore the parables of Jesus. In the Parable of the Sower, he emphasizes the importance of being "good soil" when receiving the Word of God. If we get distracted, we run the risk of becoming callous to God's will, and losing out on God's riches.

As we continue to study the Kingdom teachings of Jesus, we see him pointing out to the crowd that they missed the signs of the Kingdom. His life was fulfilling the ancient scriptures that pointed to a spiritual Kingdom. He then comforts us with the assurance that He will be with us through all our trials.
