Revelation 3:14-22
As we look at the ministry of Jesus, we see times when people were healed and renewed because of their faith, and times when people walked away empty because they lacked faith. Do you believe He can renew you? He's calling you to be closer to Him, and is knocking on your heart's door. Come into His presence with thanksgiving and faith. Be active in seeking spiritual maturity and renewal. Don't settle for less.

In order to experience spiritual renewal, we need to focus on Jesus, not Jesus+. In a world of temporary things, it's only the Word and work of the Lord that stands in permanence. Some things that can veil the work of God are 1) competition with worldly promotions, 2) personality driven ministry, 3) attaching the Gospel to political ideologies. The health of a church is measured by the depth of its desire for Jesus. That brings the hope of renewal.

As we see God bringing renewal and revival to universities and churches throughout this nation, we take a moment to look at a time when revival came to the nation of Israel. Repentance of sin, worship of God, and intercession are elements that open our hearts to spiritual revival. May His Spirit move across this nation and the world.

As we continue to study the issues of life, we are reminded that striving for wealth is meaningless, since it is temporary. The love of money drives us away from loving God. God intended for mankind to work, but to do it as a gift from God. Serving God and others, instead of wealth, is what brings joy and eternal meaning in life.

As we continue "The Search for the Meaning of Life", as related in Ecclesiastes, we see how important it is to be open with God, and to have our commitment to Him be more than just words. He is in heaven, and we are not. He knows us. Let our words be few, and our actions sincere.

As we continue the study of Ecclesiastes, we see the author pointing out that lives of oppression, envy, and radical individualism are all meaningless. He then points out that God's intention is for us to be together with Him and with one another. We then see how the early church sought to follow Jesus in a broken world, and are challenged to pray that our church will follow their example.

Through this third chapter we see: 1) everything has it's time, 2) God will eventually make everything beautiful, 3) we have a hard time understanding God, 4) He is sovereign. As a result, we should have courage, and face our seasons with faith.

As we continue the search for life's meaning, we move on to chapter 2 of Ecclesiastes. The author lists the endless amount of possessions and positions he has, and concludes that they are all meaningless without God, since we can't take them with us when we pass. Turn from a life of consumerism to a life of consuming God.

We begin a new series based on Ecclesiastes, entitled "Searching for the Meaning of Life". As the author reflects on that question, he finds that life is meaningless if based on the routines, memories and wisdom of the world. We then see throughout Scripture, our life does have eternal meaning, if we see things through the eyes of Jesus.

As we enter the new year, we are reminded to take time to rest. If we don't, we can become anxious and unfruitful in our Christian walk. God rested on the seventh day of Creation, and exhorts us to do the same. Build into your life a time of rest, a time to focus on your relationship with Christ. Shift from restlessness to restfulness.
